The inscription may Ьс thнs translated: "A1·tfully briglltened in gold and p1·ecious stones, tllis pнlpit is l1ere dedicated Ьу Кing Неnгу witl1 reverence, desil'oнs of celestial glory: ricbly it is decorated with his own treasures, for you, most Holy Virgin, in order that you may oЬtain the higЬest gain as а future reward for him." The sentiment is not entirely disinterested; but а1·с not motives generally mixed? St. Bernard pгeached а Cn1sade from this pL1lpit in 1146. The ivory carvings are vcry ancient, and ге­ шаrkаЫу finc, reprcsenting figш-es fl'0m the G1·eekmyths.
