Peгhaps the most ,vonderfнl ca1·vings on the church of St. Zeno at Verona are over the arched entrancc to the сгурt. These, being chiefly grotesque animal forms, are signed Ьу Adaminus. Among the humouroнs little cnпceits is а couple of strнtting cocks carгying between t J1em а dcad fox slung on а rod. Ruskin has characte1·­ ized the carvings at Vcrona, especially tlюse on the porcl1, as being among tl1e best examples of the true functioн
