У «Золотой мили» теперь новое «лицо». Новостройка «Баркли Пла- за», занявшая место Новозачатьевских торговых бань XIX века, выхо- дит прямо на Пречистенскую набережную. Ее строгий прямоугольный силуэт не обходят вниманием даже самые сосредоточенные пешехо- ды. Кроме удачного расположения на Пречистенской набережной не- далеко от Кремля, по соседству с храмом Христа Спасителя и Крым- ским мостом, уникальность комплекса «Баркли Плаза» в продуманной инфраструктуре. В ней предусмотрены все необходимые элементы, включая комфортабельную подземную автостоянку, рестораны, бути- ковую зону, озелененные наземные и надземные дворики. Высокая стоимость аренды оправдана не только качественными материалами отделки и удобной планировкой, но и восхитительными видами на Храм Христа Спасителя, Кремль, Москву-реку и уютные пе- реулки Остоженки, открывающимися сквозь панорамное остекление. По длительности проектирования и строительства, по словам Сер- гея Скуратова, комплекс «Баркли Плаза» побил все рекорды. В про- цессе от некоторых идей пришлось отказаться. The new Berkeley Plaza built on the site of the former Novozachatyevskie Trade Baths of the nineteenth century directly faces Prechis- tenskaya Embankment. Its straight square silhouette draws attention of most absent- minded pedestrians. Apart from its advan- tageous location along Prechistenskaya Em- bankment in the vicinity of the Kremlin, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the Krymsky Bridge, the Berkeley Plaza complex owes its unique character to its elaborate infrastructure. It provides for all the neces- sary details, including a comfortable under- ground parking, restaurants, a shopping area and green above- and on-the-ground yards. Rental prices are high, but are accounted for by top quality finishing and a convenient lay- out as well as breathtaking views to the Ca-

According to Sergey Skuratov, Berkeley Pla- za has broken all records for duration of de- sign and construction. While design and con- struction were underway, some of the ideas had to be abandoned. Architects proposed a double facade, a heated contour of which would consist of the inner edge of protrud- ing structures, while the unheated one would form a gap. Such a trick would help provide privacy for residents and protect them from prying eyes of those enjoying the view of the downtown, but such a favourable option had to be declined. In respect to urban development the build- ing is another element in shaping the new front of the embankment, which started with construction of the International Mos- cow Bank building.
