The prize, I think first of all, means a great deal, because intrenational architects have come here to review the work of young architects under 44, to select someone regulary bodies the spirit of Chernikhov but in interpretation that’s today and how we feel the architecture can be moved and shifted with fresh vision today. So it’s a very significant prize it’s one that doesn’t reward a body of past work, but tries to find a kind of spirit, of something that will be very very mportant in the future, something that has the power to act to the culture of architecture at significant way. There is a great for work and some among the best of young architects internationally, but very very different in approach. So we see some work that is at 4 front of formal invastigation, there is work that at 4 front of material investigation, others that find a kind of the activest voice in architecture, that somehow being repressed and all of a sudden has a new kind of political positioning. We see a very different approaches to representation. And in the end it’s very difficult for the jury to find a single expression that’s somehow is a manifest, manifestation of the future, of what imagine of future can be is more heroic and genius than we ever thought and from the approaches and possible In a sense there has been one clear winner and we are still in the liberation to be continued. Elizabeth Diller is a founding member of DS+R. Born in Lodz, Poland; she attended The Cooper Union School of Art and received a Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union School of Architecture. Ms. Diller is Professor of Architecture at Princeton University. Diller Scofidio + Renfro is an interdisciplinary studio that fuses architecture, the visual arts and the performing arts. Their work encompasses architecture, urban design, temporary and permanent site-specific installations, multi-media theater, electronic media, and print.
