The tools and implements used Ьу шosaic artists are 1·epre­ sented in the hands of these two monks. Toгriti was apparently а greater man in some respects than his contemporaries. Не based Ьis art rather on Roman than Greek tradition, and his works exhiblt less Byzan­ tine formality thaп many mosaics of the period. On
