The screen is of about 1186, and tЬе figшes are made of stucco; Ьнt it is cxceptionally good stucco, veey different iп chaгacte1· fгош the later w01·k, ,vhich Bгo,Yпing lшs desigпated as " stнcco t,viddlings cve1·ywhere." l\lнch good Gегшап scнlpture may Ье seen iп Nii1·cш­ beгg. The Schбner Brunnen, the beaнtifнl foнntaiп, is а dclight, in spite of the fact tlшt one is not looking at the 01·iginal, which was relegated to the museum for safe keeping long ago. The carviпg, too, оп tlш Frauen­ kirche, and St. Sebald's, and on St. Lorcпz, is as fine as anything one \\ 1 ill find in Germany. Anothe1· exception stands out iп the шеmшу. Nothing is more exquisite tЬan the Bride's Dоог, at St. Scbald's, in Nii1·embe1·g; the figures of the '\Vise and Foolish Vi1·gins ,Yho guard the entrance could ha1·dly Ье surpassed in the 1·ealm of realistic sculpture, retaining at the same time а just proportion of monнmental fceling.
