«Сад Памяти» музея ГУЛАГ GULAG Museum’s Garden of Memory

Музей переехал в новое здание в 2015 году и, кроме новых экспозицион­ ных площадей, стал обладателем не- большого двора. В нём был задуман мемориальныи сад — важное дополне- ние к экспозиции, символ обновления, место для прогулок и размышлении, пространство, психологически необхо- димое после погружения в болезненную тему репрессий. Контраст с опытом изу- чения экспозиции возникает из-за того, что объектами, фиксирующими память о людях и событиях, выступают не мо- нументы, а живые растения. Проектом предполагается создание «рощи памя- ти» из мемориальных знаков, каждыи из которых будет посвящён только од- ному человеку. Это даст возможность любому желающему увековечить память близкого, ставшего жертвои политиче- ских репрессии.

The museum moved to a new building in 2015, and in addition to the new exhibition areas it acquired a small courtyard. It was conceived that this courtyard would accom- modate a memorial garden, which would become an important addition to the ex- hibition, a symbol of renewal, and a place for walks and reflection, a psychologically necessary space to spend some time at after an immersion in the painful topic of poli­ tical repressions. The contrast with the ex- perience of studying the museum’s exhib- its occurs because the garden’s objects that keep the memory of people and events are not monuments but live plants. The project proposes to create a «memory grove» com- posed of memorial signs, each devoted to a specific person. This will enable anyone to perpetuate the memory of a loved one who fell victim to political repressions.
