Историко-архитектурный облик улицы с застройкой малой этажности продиктовал высоту здания 3–4 этажа с заглубленным верхним этажом в сторону двора, служащим пере- ходом от застройки в глубине квартала к застройке исторической части улицы. Здание проектировалось как жилой дом с помещени- ями общественного назначения. На практике оно начало исполь- зоваться скорее как административное здание. Двойственность функционального назначения отразилась на фасадах. С одной сто- роны, выделение первого этажа характерно больше для обществен- ных зданий, с другой стороны, ритм окон 2 и 3 этажей с имитацией «французских» балконов наводит на мысль о жилом доме. Разде- ление фасада по Большой Печерской со вставкой «кубика в раз- ломе» дало возможность акцентировать главный вход. В принци- пе, здание выглядит несколько дискретным, от нескольких деталей можно было отказаться в пользу большей монолитности, но благо- даря цветовой гамме и грамотному чередованию глухих и остеклен- ных участков сооружение выглядит энергичным и современным не в ущерб окружению.

Tackling this task, the ar- chitects avoided including direct allusions to historical styles and placed emphasis on details and materials: ceramic granite with the texture of wood, composite material of various colours, aluminium curtain walls, and stainless steel. The historical and architectural image of the street with low-rise buildings defined the height of the new building, which is 3 to 4 floors tall with its upper floor shifted in the direction of the yard, through which a transition is made from build- ings standing further away to those in the his- torical part of the street. The building was de- signed to be a residential house with some public premises. In effect, it is used more as an admin- istrative building. The facades reflect its dual functional purpose. On the other hand, visual detachment of the first (ground) floor is more characteristic of public buildings; on the oth- er hand, the rhythm of windows on the second and third floors with imitation of French balco- nies reminds of a residential building. Dividing the facade facing Bolshaya Pecherskaya Street into two parts and inserting a cube into the split helped place an emphasis on the main entrance. Actually, the building looks as if it consisted of separate elements; several details could have been sacrificed in favour of more integrity, but thanks to the colour palette and alternation of solid and glazed elements, the building looks energetic and modern without compromising the coherence of the surroundings.
