The land plot in Kazan had a rather ad- vantageous location on a high rising area with an access to the river; however, the fact that the entrance was located at the north side op- posed to this lucky scenario; apart from this first difficulty, the other disadvantage was the surroundings of the land plot, which required significant landscaping efforts. Developing the image of the house, architects proceeded from the following three ideas: modernity, re- spectability, and location. Eventually location played the key role: design of the building is based on various images of palaces and for- tresses perched on cliffs; in their approach the architects merged two types of construc- tions, which seemed so far removed from one another.
