Как поэтически заметил один из архитекторов, работавших над проектом, «плывущая форма здания формирует своеобразную дра- матургию – посетитель погружается в фойе с тем, чтобы затем воз- нестись в уникальный мир экспозиций на эскалаторе, соединяющем подножье и космос». В принципе, это может считаться основной стра- тегией интерьера – попасть на верхний уровень, где разместилась экс- позиция, можно лишь одним путем – поднявшись на эскалаторе, и это действие приобретает сакральный смысл попадания в святая святых. Процесс этот автоматизирован и динамичен. Экспозиционные площа- ди имеют сложную структуру, основой которой также стала динамика: многоуровневое, но не разделенное на помещения пространство име- ет определенное сходство с городом – здесь есть улицы и площади, и посетитель может выбрать маршрут, наиболее подходящий ему. organic part integrating the landscape and the cubic content. The ground in front of the building open to three directions emphasizes the functional orientation of the museum and articulates the easy access to it. Each of the other sides has its urban ‘counterpart’ – ac- cess lanes and subway exits lead the way to the flanks; the rear – glazed like the front – directly interacts with the environments while opening the visual access to the exposition. Besides, the building represents an exclusive design in engineering terms: the polyhedra of the museum’s exhibition pavilion weighing 35,000 tons is raised on three supports; with its almost 140-meter overall length, 40 meters fall within the main cantilever overhang, and the span length amounts to 60 meters. As one of the architects, who worked over the project, poetically noted, “the floating shape of the building composes a certain drama – a visitor dives into the lobby to later ascend to a unique world of expositions by escalator link- ing the base and the space”. Essentially, that could be considered the basic principle of inte- rior – the upper level where the exposition is located can be reached through one way only – by escalating, and that act attains the sa- cred sense of entering the holy of holies.
