Местонахождение музея задумано так, чтобы поместить здание в общественном парке. На юге – город. На севере – Кама. Между ними – музей, окружённый парком. Но это не просто музей в парке: зда- ние задумано как продолжение парка с помощью террас, прогулоч- ных троп, смотровых площадок и озеленённых крыш, которые помо- гают объединить восприятие искусства с восприятием окружающего ландшафта. Ландшафт преобразуется, чтобы создать две новые пеше- ходные зоны – так называемые «Каньоны искусства» – по восточную и западную стороны входного вестибюля и переднего двора. Здание состоит из пяти основных элементов. На западе находит- ся «Западный мостовой корпус», возведённый на раскопках, который включает в себя западный каньон искусства; в центре находятся вход- ной вестибюль и передний двор; на востоке находится «Восточный мостовой корпус», который включает в себя восточный каньон искус- ства. Вестибюль является практически полностью стеклянным эле- ментом здания. Эта часть содержит стойку, лестницу и лифт к различ- ным этажам и секциям здания. Часть крыши вестибюля сливается с преобразованным ландшафтом в виде холма. Вестибюль практически полностью открыт к городу, реке и небу. Он задуман для сменных вы- ставок разного жанра.

The Museum building is located in a public park. In the south there is the city, in the north – the Kama River. Between them is the Museum surrounded with the park. But it is not simply a museum in a park: the building is designed as the continua- tion of the park. This effect is achieved by the incorporation of the terraces, the walking paths, the observation sites and the roofs planted with trees and shrubs. All this helps to combine the perception of art with the perception of the surrounding landscape. The landscape is transformed to create two new pe- destrian zones, the so-called «Canyons of Art», located along the eastern and the western sides of the entrance lobby and the front yard. The building consists of five basic elements. In the west there is a «Western Bridge Wing», which is built on the excavation site and which includes the «Western Canyon of Art». In the centre there is an Entrance lobby and the Front Yard. In the east there is an «Eastern Bridge Wing», which includes the «East- ern Canyon of Art». The lobby is practically completely made of glass. This part contains a rack, a stairway and an elevator bringing to different floors and sections of the building. Part of the lobby’s roof merges in the form of a hill with the trans- formed landscape. The lobby is practically completely open to city, the river and the sky. It is designed for replaceable exhibi- tions of different genres.
