Мемориальный комплекс «Хатынь», Белоруссия. 1969 . Звонницы-обелиски, как уцелевшие от пожара печные трубы, скорбно вздымаются там, где были когда-то дома. За бронзовой скульптурной группой, на главной оси ансамбля – «Стена памяти», напоминающая о тех, кто был замучен в фашистских лагерях смерти. Каждый четвертый белорус погиб в годы Великой Отечественной войны – и поэтому в трех просветах между черными каменными плитами зеленеют березки, а в четвертом – зажжен вечный огонь. «Кладбище деревень» хранит память о сожженных и невоскресших селах. Every fourth citizen of Belarus was killed in World War II, and that is why there are three openings among the black stone slabs where birch trees are planted, and a fourth one that contains the eternal flame.
