Splitterwerk, Graz, Austria

As per Splitterwerk, the architect is not just to build on the site, but also to work with the landscape, transforming it according to the style solution of the project planned on this site. The building is like a body, which means that the architect should not only think through its skeleton, but the ‘skin’ too, which is a durable outer cover as good as the contents. Above all this, the authors underline that the architecture is closely connected with social problems and should be one of the devices to solve them.

не просто строить на участке, но и работать с ландшафтом, преобразовывая его согласно стилевому решению запланированного на данном участке проекта. Здание подобно орга- низму, если развивать эту метафору, архитектор обязан продумать не только его скелет, но и «кожу» – прочную оболочку, достойную содержания. В довершение всего авторы подчеркивают, что архитектура тесно связана с социальными проблемами общества и должна служить одним из способов их решения.
