This apartment offers an impressive view of Moscow. The striking panorama of the Vorobyovy Gory (The Vorobyovy Hills), the Novo-Devitchi Convent, and the Moscow City in the distance is nothing short of breathtaking. This is what has been the reason behind the choice of the key techniques used to design the interiors. The utilities area which does not need natural light is hidden at the back of the apartment, while all living spaces form a circle stretching along the panoramic windows. This makes the scenic view on Moscow, in effect, an interior element in its own right, a kind of frame for the entire living space. The architect has been able to structure the interplay between the internal and external content, while at the same time preserving the atmosphere of privacy and respectability that is so important for such property. The large and bright living room can serve as a clear example of how the designers have integrated, reconciled, if you wish, the centrifugal and centripetal forces in one space. The view of the capital, stunning as it is, does not dominate the interiors. Moreover, the living room is dominated by the massive and dark volume of the fireplace that serves as the cen- trepiece of the space and keeps all zones around it in a uniform and simple ensemble. The boundary between public and private areas, those where visitors are and are not allowed, is very smooth: all rooms are “strung” on a circular corridor and overlook the glazed facades, that is they have a common source of natural light. Even the bathroom that is separated from all other spaces with matte-surfaced glass has a panoramic window.
