Архитектурному бюро Александры Фёдоровой 15 лет; основ- ная масса реализованных за эти годы проектов приходится на загородные и приморские виллы, а также жилые интерье- ры. Работы бюро балансируют между двумя постулатами: первый — о том, что архитектура должна быть ненадоедаю- щей, а потому нейтральной, и второй — о том, что архитекту- ра должна обволакивать своих обитателей положительными эмоциями, нести позитив. Кроме того, в своих объектах бюро стремится реализовывать неустаревающую архитектуру, ис- пользовать решения, обращённые не к сиюминутным тен- денциям, а к глобальным направлениям, к модернизму как таковому. Как следствие, для построек бюро характерны ла- коничные формы в качественном исполнении и материалах, благодаря которым в них нет ни холодности, ни аскетичности. Важно и то, что как целые объекты, так и локальные интерье- ры создаются здесь средствами архитектуры, что, впрочем, не исключает дальнейшего декорирования пространства.

The Alexandra Fedorova’s Architectural Bureau is 15 years old; most of the projects it has completed over these years correspond to sub- urban and seaside villas and residential interiors. The Bureau’s work balances between two premises: the first is that architecture should not be tiring, and therefore it should have a neutral character, and the second is that architecture should envelop the residents with positive emotions, charge them with positive energy. Moreover, the Bureau strives to implement in its projects a timeless architecture, to use solutions that are focused not on short-term trends, but on global ones, on modernism itself. As a result, the Bureau’s buildings are characterized by concise forms with high-quality execution and top-notch materials, which prevents those buildings from appear- ing cold or ascetic. It is also important that the Bureau creates both complete projects and localized interiors by means of architecture, which, however, does not preclude any subsequent decoration of the space.

Основной принцип работы нашего архитектур- ного бюро заключается в создании архитектуры и интерьеров «ВНЕ ВРЕМЕНИ», то есть совре- менных и уместных в любом времени, через 10, 20, 30 лет ... не устаревающих, а значит — вечно ценных. В отличие от большинства дизайнер- ских студий, во всех наших работах мы приме- няем архитектурный подход, будь то здание, ин- терьер или предмет в интерьере. Мы создаём среду обитания человека в виде объёмно-про- странственной композиции, в которую по мере необходимости можно добавлять аксессуа- ры, при этом суть пространства не изменится. Мы всегда используем индивидуальный под- ход к каждому. И в итоге получается именно то, что хочется и заказчику, и нам. Если вам близ- ка наша философия и эстетика — будем рады с вами поработать.

The main principle of work of our architectural bureau is to create architecture and interiors of “OUTSIDE OF TIME”, that is, modern and relevant at any time, in 10, 20, 30 years ... timeless, and therefore forever valua- ble. Unlike most design studios, in all of our work we use an architectural approach, whether it be a build- ing, an interior, or an object in an interior. We create a human habitat in the form of a volume-spatial compo- sition, in which, as necessary, you can add accesso- ries, while the essence of the space will not change. We always use an individual approach to everyone. And in the end it turns out exactly what the custom- er wants, and us. If our philosophy and aesthetics are close to you, we will be happy to work with you.

ИНТЕРВЬЮ INTERVIEW ОСНОВА | Все отношения начинаются с первого впечатления — от него зависит, захочет ли че- ловек в них погружаться дальше, вникать в суть. Первое впечатление важно не только в отноше- ниях между людьми, но и в отношениях с архи- тектурой. У зрителя должно возникнуть чувство визуального принятия формы, внутренней гар- монии и даже удовольствия при её созерцании. Оно может быть осознанное, если человек иску- шён в пространственных искусствах, или же нео- сознанное, но от этого не менее, а наоборот, ещё более действенное и значимое. Я убеждена, что любой зритель, как бы он ни был далёк от архи- тектуры, всегда поймёт красоту формы, если она есть. И неважно, созерцает ли он при этом целое здание, фрагмент интерьера или отдельный предмет —все они создаются по одним и тем же правилам. В их основе — гармоничная компози- ция, точно найденные пропорции, и архитектор «по должности» обязан обладать этим знанием, должен чувствовать форму интуитивно. ИДЕЯ | Самый частый запрос от наших заказчи- ков — сделайте современно, но уютно. Я не со- гласна с этим противопоставлением, с этим «но», однако ключевое слово здесь — современно. Действительно, мыделаемархитектуру только со- временного направления, она близка нам по сути, как таковая. Жизнь меняется с каждым десятиле- тием всё быстрее, а архитектура создаётся для за- втрашнего дня, и значит, она должна быть в этом смысле «на вырост». Это непростая задача, и она касается не только технологий, но и формы. Что- бы с точки зрения эстетики отвечать переходя- щему в будущее настоящему, мы выработали для себя понятие недоминирующего пространства. Иными словами, мы стараемся создавать объек- ты, которые бы не перетягивали на себя внима- ние, не раздражали и не стесняли своих обитате- лей, а служили бы для них прекрасным фоном.

BASIS | All relationships start with a first impression, and it’s on the basis of this first impression that a per- son decides whether he/she wants to go deeper into the relationship, to delve into it. The first impression is important not only in relations between people, but also in relations with architecture. The viewer should get a sense of visual appreciation of a form, to feel the inner harmony or even pleasure when contemplating it. It can be a conscious feeling, if a person is expe- rienced in the spatial arts, or an unconscious one, it being not less, but even more effective and meaning- ful. I am convinced that any spectator, no matter how unacquainted with the art of architecture they are, will always understand the beauty of the form, if it is pres- ent there. And it doesn’t matter if they contemplate an entire building, a fragment of the interior, or a separate item— all of those are created according to the same rules. At the basis of those rules are precisely defined proportions and harmonious composition, and an ar- chitect by virtue of his profession should know this, should intuitively feel the form. IDEA | The most frequent request from our clients comes down to “make it modern, but comfortable”. I do not agree with this contrast, with the “but” in this definition, however the key word here is “modern”. Indeed, we only create modernist architecture, for it feels congenial to us in its essence. Life is chang- ing faster and faster with each decade, and with ar- chitecture being created for the long-term, it means that the architecture must be created “to grow into”. This is not an easy task, and it hinges not only on technology, but also on forms. In order to be in line with the present transitioning into the future in terms of aesthetics, we have developed for ourselves the concept of non-dominant space. In other words, we are trying to create buildings that would not draw all attention to themselves, would not annoy or embar- rass their residents, but would serve as a beautiful background.

ЦЕЛОСТНОСТЬ | Когда главная задача решена и архитектурная оболочка создана, когда поя- вился недвижимый скелет объекта, начинается вторая и тоже важная часть работы — мы дела- ем его пространство контактным для человека. Современная архитектура может дать своим обитателям такое количество уюта, какое они сами для себя выберут: поскольку оболочка ней- тральна и самодостаточна, она может остаться пустотной, вместив лишь самое необходимое для жизни, или наполниться любым количеством мебели и декора. Об этом наполнении мы дума- ем уже на стадии выработки концепции—преду сматриваем не только расстановку мебели, но и возможные места для размещения картин, скульптуры и т. п. Поиск и подбор этих предме- тов требует времени и усилий, ведь нам важно добиться целостности архитектуры и её наполне- ния. И если удачно найденный предмет совпадёт с проектным по размеру, то полдела уже сделано! СВОБОДА | Современная архитектура — это, прежде всего, свобода; она проявляется во всех её аспектах. Это стирание границ между внеш- ним и внутренним пространством, это пере- распределение или неожиданное совмещение функций, это вызовы с точки зрения тектони- ки — одним словом, это отсутствие какого-либо канона или жёстких правил. Поэтому в совре- менной архитектуре одновременно сосуществу- ют тренды с противоположными векторами, как например, мода на грубые постиндустри- альные фактуры типа необработанного бетона или старого кирпича сочетается с модой на сте- рильность, какую даёт, в частности, поверхность из кориана. И таких примеров можно приводить множество. Именно поэтому так интересно де- лать современную архитектуру.

INTEGRITY | After the main task is solved and the ar- chitectural envelope has been created, once the im- movable skeleton of a building has materialized, the second and equally important part of the work be- gins — to make its space approachable for the peo- ple. Contemporary architecture can give the residents as much comfort as they choose: since the envelope is neutral and self-sufficient, it can remain empty, ac- commodating only those things that are most neces- sary for living, or it can be filled with any amount of furniture and decorations. We think about this content already at the concept development stage, and we consider not only furniture placement, but also pos- sible locations for paintings, sculptures, etc. Search and selection of these items requires time and effort, because it is important for us to achieve a cohesive- ness between the architecture and its content. And if a serendipitously found object’s size coincides with the one we have in our design, then half the work has already been done! FREEDOM | Contemporary architecture primarily means freedom; the freedom manifests itself in every architectural aspect. This corresponds to erasing of boundaries between external and internal space, redistribution or unexpected combination of func- tions, challenges in terms of tectonics — in a word, this means the absence of any canon or strict rules. Therefore, in contemporary architecture there are trends with opposite vectors that coexist, for example the fashion for coarse post-industrial textures, such as the untreated concrete or old bricks, combines with the fashion for sterility that is characteristic of, in particular, Corian surfaces. And there is plenty of such examples. That is why it is so interesting to de- sign the contemporary architecture.

We are pleased to participate in the creation of a new book TATLIN and support our partners — the archi- tect bureau Alexandra Fedorova. We are very close to the architecture philosophy of Alexandra: to build houses outside of time and to consider the house as a single exterior and interior space, where the interior is a logical continuation of the architectural idea. Our main task is to select the glazing systems that most accurately reflect the style and idea of the architect, as well as to develop all the technical aspects. In joint projects, we work a lot with frameless glazing Sky-Frame. It is thanks to the designs of Sky-Frame that it is possible to achieve the desired result — to erase the boundary between inside and outside and assemble the image entirely. The Alexandra Fyodor- ova Bureau inspires with the scale and complexity of projects, with unique architectural ideas that chal- lenge our experience.
